This tool scales any video to the 1080-pixel-wide standard that Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts are built around, entirely on your device: no upload, no queue, no watermark, and your original file never leaves your browser.
How it works
- Pick a video from your device or drop it into the box above - MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and AVI all work.
- On supported browsers the resize runs on your hardware encoder (fast); otherwise the built-in WebAssembly engine (downloaded once, ~31 MB) takes over automatically.
- The video is scaled to 1080 pixels wide with the aspect ratio preserved - vertical videos come out 1080x1920 - and re-encoded to a clean MP4. A download button appears when it is done.

Frequently asked questions
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. Resizing happens inside your browser - on your hardware encoder when supported, or via WebAssembly otherwise. Your file never leaves your device.
Why 1080 pixels wide?
It is the width Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts are designed around, and a safe standard for web embeds. Aspect presets (9:16, 1:1, 16:9) and a custom width picker are on our roadmap.
What happens to vertical videos?
The aspect ratio is always preserved: a vertical 9:16 video becomes 1080x1920 - exactly the frame Shorts, Reels and TikTok expect.
Will small videos be stretched up?
No. Upscaling adds blur without adding detail, so videos already narrower than 1080 px keep their original dimensions and are simply re-encoded.
Does resizing reduce quality?
Scaling down re-samples the image, which keeps it sharp at the new size; the video is re-encoded with H.264 at a bitrate matched to the output resolution. The audio track is carried over.
Is this free?
Yes - free, no signup, no watermark, no queue. Processing happens on your device, so there are no per-file server costs to pass on.
